Deng Lab is a statistics research team led by Professor Deng Ke from the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Tsinghua University. Deng Ke is a tenured professor and associate department chair of the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Tsinghua University, and also serves as associate dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Data Science at Tsinghua. His primary research interests lie in Bayesian statistics and interdisciplinary data science. He received his B.S. in Applied Mathematics (2003) and Ph.D. in Statistics (2008) from Peking University. He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow (2008–2011) and research associate (2011–2013) in the Department of Statistics at Harvard University, before joining Tsinghua University in 2013. In 2014, he was selected for the National High-Level Talent Program (Youth Project). In 2016, he received the honorary title of "Scientific Chinese Person of the Year." In 2018, he was appointed as a research fellow at the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI). In 2024, he was elected as an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). He has published over 70 papers in leading journals and conferences in statistics and data science, and has led multiple national-level research projects. His work in bioinformatics received the First Prize of the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award (Natural Science) from the Ministry of Education. His research on text analysis and digital humanities received Best Paper Awards from the International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM) and the Chinese Digital Humanities Conference. Several of his outcomes in government big-data analytics have been adopted and applied by government agencies. His achievements in interdisciplinary teaching reform for digital humanities won the Second Prize of the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award. He has served as a council member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Section of the International Association for Statistical Computing, chair of the Computational Statistics Branch of the Chinese Association for Applied Statistics (CAAS), vice chair of the Data Science and AI Branch, the Education and Management Branch, and the Bayesian Statistics Branch of CAAS, as well as vice president of the Chinese Young Statisticians Association. He is also deputy director of the Smart Healthcare Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, a member of the National Expert Committee on Clinical Application of Anti-Tumor Drugs, and secretary-general of the Teaching Steering Committee for Statistics Majors in Higher Education.
